Even though the tax season happens every year, it's still good to have a checklist on how to prepare. Once you have everything, start the process by scheduling an appointment or filling out our intake form.
Before starting the tax process, make sure you've received all the expected tax forms. These include W2s, 1099s, 1098s, Sch K1s, and 5498s. Remember, not all taxable income is reported on a form. Don't forget to gather that information.
If you'll be claiming tax benefits, gather all receipts, including medical bills, school expenses, donations, gambling losses, energy efficient home improvements, EV purchases, child care payments, adoption costs, and more.
For rental property investors and day traders, prepare a profit & loss statement. For crypto traders, get a record of all transactions (purchases, sales, AND exchanges).
If you're a contractor or received payment for goods or services, prepare a profit & loss statement and locate your mileage log. Find your EIN if applicable.
